What is Pilates?
Pilates is a method which concentrates on strengthening the body, posture, balance and flexibility, helping to improve general fitness and overall well-being. The technique cultivates awareness of the body to support everyday movements that are efficient and graceful.
Why is Pilates good for runners?
Pilates is an excellent choice of complimentary training for a runner as it is very low impact which means it’s gentler on your joints than high-impact activities, and can be incorporated into your weekly exercise routine without putting too much strain on your body.
A) Improved running technique: Pilates can help runners improve their running technique by making them stronger and more stable from the centre.
B) Better breathing control: Pilates can help runners improve their breathing control.
C) Reduced risk of injury: Pilates can help runners prevent injuries and weaknesses that can slow them down or stop them from running.
D) Better recovery: Pilates can help runners recover from long runs and tough training programs.
E) Improved body awareness: Pilates can help runners become more aware of their bodies and how they function.
F) It can help to improve your mental focus and concentration.
